October 25, 2004Former ALICE IN CHAINS guitarist Jerry Cantrell and ex-THE CULT guitarist Billy Duffy were among the special guests performing with CAMP FREDDY at the "Vanity Fair In Concert" charity event benefiting Step Up Women's Network on Saturday (Oct. 23) at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles, CA. CAMP FREDDY is the Los Angeles-based "jam" band consisting of JANE'S ADDICTION guitarist Dave Navarro, former THE CULT touring bassist Billy Morrison (on guitar),ex-JANE'S ADDICTION drummer Stephen Perkins, and vocalist Donovan Leitch (the son of 1960s U.K. folk-rock icon Donovan).
Commented Morrison in an online posting: "After flying back [from New York] on Friday, we all went to The Wiltern yesterday to do it all over again. Different guests, different songs, but the same vibe — everyone having a ton of fun. Davy Havoc (AFI) rocked a couple of BOWIE songs ('Ziggy Stardust' and 'Suffragette City'),Terri Nunn (BERLIN) floored everyone with her song 'Metro' and a duet of 'Feel Like Making Love' (with Stephen Jenkins from THIRD EYE BLIND),Duffy and Cantrell just ROCKED the house as usual — we did the ALICE IN CHAINS song 'Them Bones' with Jerry and it was just HEAVY!!! And we did THE CULT's 'Rain' with Duffy and Leif Garrett on vocals — sounded so cool. And the audience were just amazing. Everyone had a fantastic time, and I want to thank everyone who came down."
CAMP FREDDY entered a Los Angeles studio in January to begin recording their all-star "covers" album for Sanctuary Records. An early 2005 release is expected.
